On the last day of school before the exams, a physics student of mine gave me a present. It's called a Styrobot. It's made of a styrofoam cup, painted and decorated as if it was a head, but when you press a button it moves around. She made the robot! It looked cool and I was very excited to get it to work. Unfortunately, it didn't.

The same student worked on a Rube Goldberg machine earlier that term, and it looked fantastic. I couldn't wait for it to get started (and see the candle light up in the end). Again, when the time came, the machine failed. The girl was so distraught. I felt so bad for her, because I think their design was one of the best. Things break, so it wasn't so bad, but man was it a terrible event for her. So when the Styrobot didn't work, I thought it was very fitting! (By the way, some other teachers got Styrobots from her, and they all worked - I had an opportunity to see them). I must be unlucky!

Anyway, on the back of the Styrobot, the student wrote down her website (If you want to check it out, it's RobotGrrl.com.) I of course went on it to check it out. It's SOOOOOOO professional. Awesome graphics, a store, links, etc. (Much cooler than my little green website.) She updates a blog very often. It's mostly about robotics, but also about some other cool things she's up to. I have added her to my "blogs to read on a regular basis". This will be a perfect way to see what my student is doing, now that she has graduated, and I won't see her on a regular basis. Good Luck Erin!

Thanks!

Wow! Thanks so much for the post - it really means a lot to me!

And your 'little green website' is really cool, any day :)
